Taser Gun - An Introduction
 Taser Gun - Definition

Traditional stun technology weapons operate in a 7-14 watt range and interfere with the communication signals within the nervous system of the target. However there is a small percentage of people with an extremely high tolerance for electrical stimulation and are actually able to fight through the effect of the 7-14 watt systems.

However Taser Gun's and EMD weapons (Electro-Muscular Disruption) are more powerful and use an 18-26 watt electrical signal to completely override the central nervous system and directly control the skeletal muscles. In recent police studies, the Advanced Taser Systems have a higher instant incapacitation rate than that of a 9mm hand gun. Advanced Taser's and EMD weapons are specifically designed to stop even the most elite, aggressive combatants. Rather than simply interfering with the communication between the brain and muscles like stun-guns, these systems directly tell the muscles what to do: contract until the target is in the fetal position on the ground. The Taser's you will find on this site are the 15-foot range civilian versions. IT is illegal to carry the 21-foot range police edition.

Upon firing, compressed nitrogen projects two Taser probes 15 or 21 feet (depending on cartridge) at a speed of 180 feet per second. The probes are connected by thin insulated wire back to the unit. An electrical signal transmits throughout the region where the probes make contact with the body or clothing. The result is an instant loss of the attacker’s neuromuscular control and any ability to perform coordinated action. The Taser's also use an automatic timing mechanism to apply the electric charge for 5 seconds. Taser devices are not considered firearms and they can be legally carried (concealed or open) without permit.

If the probes miss, the Taser can still work as long as one probe hits the human, and the second falls on grass or dirt as the power is grounded. However, the results depreciate substantially if the second probe lands on concrete or asphalt. A person that is struck with a Taser will feel dazed for several seconds. The recovery from a Taser is fast, and the effects stop the instant the Taser is shut off. Some will experience critical response amnesia and others will experience a mild tingling sensation. The low electrical amperage and short duration of the pulsating current ensures a non-lethal charge, and moreover it does not cause permanent damage or long term aftereffects to muscles, nerves or any other body functions. Taser gun's are also useful in dealing with multiple assailants. If the user's first shot

A hit anywhere on the body can be effective with the a Taser, making it easier to use and more reliable under stress.

misses, or the probes aren't grounded properly, a secondary Air Cartridge is available and it holds a backup cartridge below the handgrip. Finally, if the backup probe misses or the user engages a second attacker the Taser can be applied directly to the target and it will work much like a powerful stun-gun. Anti-Felon Identification (AFID) systems are used so that criminal usage of Taser's can be traced. Evidence dispersed by the device can provide the exact identification of the Air Cartridge purchaser. No other self protection device in the world such as guns, chemical and pepper sprays, touch-stun devices or batons can be traced from evidence at the scene of the crime directly to the registration of the user. Taser Gun's should always be aimed at the attacker’s chest or back, since both probes need to hit some part of the body to be effective. The torso provides the largest surface area to hit. The Taser should never be aimed toward an attacker’s face. This is a serious self-defense device and should be treated as such. Moreover, putting any sharp object into an eye is potentially dangerous to the cornea.
